North Shore Animal League America, the world's largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization, honors several individuals, organizations, and a hero pet at its annual Lewyt Humane Awards Luncheon. The annual Lewyt Humane Awards are presented to those whose actions reflect the Animal League's mission to rescue, nurture and adopt orphaned animals into loving homes.

The Mutt-i-grees® Advocacy Award – awarded to Actress Kathryn Erbe, Law & Order: Criminal Intent. As a pet owner, animal lover and spokesperson for the American Mutt-i-grees Club, Ms. Erbe has helped to promote the uniqueness of mixed-breed shelter pets through public service announcements and campaigns. With more than 25 million mixed-breed dog owners in America, she has encouraged potential adopters to consider a Mutt-i-gree, helping to reduce euthanasia rates. Ms. Erbe is the proud owner of two American Mutt-i-grees named Lilah and Tallulah, both adopted from North Shore Animal League America...

Proceeds of the luncheon, named in honor of Animal League founders, the late Alex Lewyt, and his wife Elisabeth Lewyt, Chairperson of the Board of Directors, benefit North Shore Animal League America's mission to rescue, nurture and adopt over 18,000 homeless animals annually.


I hope of a few pictures of the event and that the auctions will bring much money for Mutt-i-grees® and North Shore Animal League America...
...plus something to laugh about for the end.
