Rampensau

I love this chair and always scream 'Rampensau' (pulling focus) when it appears in the next tv-show.

Television’s Most Favored Seat

navyemecochair.jpg

From the office of Dr. House to the interrogation room of the major case squad in Law and Order: Criminal Intent, and countless other television series, stands an iconic chair. Emeco’s classic 1006 Navy Side Chair. In production since 1944, the chair continues to gain popularity. Apparently it’s even a product of the twelve colonies, making a cameo in the reimagined Battlestar Galactica series.
“Legend has it that Wilton Dinges, who founded Emeco in 1944, actually tossed a 1006 Navy Chair out the window of a six-story building. The result? A few minor scratches. Emeco’s 77-step patented construction process was invented to satisfy a military need for lightweight, corrosion-resistant equipment” for use on aircraft carriers, submarines, etc.
“In the late 1990s, the Navy Chair’s iconic design began catching the attention of architects and designers, initiating a new era for Emeco. Beginning with soft, recycled aluminum, 1006 Navy seating goes through a series of hand-crafted processes, including heat treatment and anodizing, to render the chair diamond-hard and virtually indestructible. Though imitations of the 1006 exist far and wide, Emeco’s Navy Chair is the only one to go through this rigorous production process. Three small welds on the back of the slats are left exposed to indicate that this often-copied seating is the real thing. Specially made stainless steel foot caps are covered with a clear plastic glide to prevent scratching floors or snagging carpets.”
The chair has also been subject in a short documentary film capturing its creation. 77 Steps, a film by Eames Demetrios, you can view it at DASFilmFest.com, a site where Eames also offers fortnightly movies on Design, Architecture and Sustainability.

I was so thrill as the 1006 also was the only item Eric Bogosian used in his 100 Monologues II was able to attend during my NYC vacations.

Kathryn Erbe at "All The Rage" Opening Night

Kathryn attended the Off Broadway Opening Night of 'All the Rage' last week. See which stage colleagues she met at West Bank Cafe in New York City, January 30th.

Broadway veteran Martin Moran (Spamalot) celebrated the opening of his new solo show, All the Rage, on Tuesday, January 30 at the West Bank Café. Produced by piece by piece productions and Rising Phoenix Repertory, in association with The Barrow Group, the work is now running at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater at Playwrights Horizons through February 24.
Directed by Seth Barrish, who also collaborated with Moran on his OBIE-winning one-man play, The Tricky Part, All the Rage follows Moran's quest to make a difference in the world, while coming to terms with a teenage trauma.
Guests at the opening included Moran's pals from the original Broadway cast of Titanic, Brian d'Arcy James, Michael Cerveris, and David Costabile; his partner, Henry Stram (also of Titanic); Spamalot co-star Marin Mazzie and her husband, Jason Danieley (Curtains); Kathryn Erbe (Law & Order: Criminal Intent); Jayne Houdyshell (Follies); Mary Testa and Julia Murney (Queen of the Mist); and Jennifer Cody (Urinetown) with her husband, Hunter Foster, who appeared in Moran's one-act musical, Borrowed Dust.

CINO NIGHTS Book Reading

Already happened at the end of June, sorry for not noticing it earlier. But here are two amazing photos of Kathryn and Meave during the event to launch the newly published CINO NIGHTS: Plays from Rising Phoenix Rep, edited by Daniel Talbott and Addie Johnson.

From what I can spot I can say that I love Kathryn's dress. Wow, Meave growing to a beautiful young woman. It looks like they had much fun.

Read here about the event and see a few more photos.

"Storefront Church" Opening Night After Party

See, Kathryn attended John Patrick Shanley's Storefront Church of Atlantic Theater Company. Here are a few photos of the after party arrival.

John Patrick Shanley directs the world premiere of his Bronx-set Storefront Church, the third play of his trilogy that began with the Pulitzer Prize-winning Doubt. The play — presented by Atlantic Theater Company and formerly titled Sleeping Demon — opened June 11.

Atlantic Theater Company opened the world premiere production of STOREFRONT CHURCH, written and directed by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award® winner John Patrick Shanley, on Monday night, June 11 at the Linda Gross Theater. The production will run through July 1, 2012. The production features the ensemble cast of Bob Dishy, Giancarlo Esposito, Zach Grenier, Ron Cephas Jones, Jordan Lage and Tonya Pinkins. STOREFRONT CHURCH is the final installment of the trilogy called Church and State, which began with Doubt. The story concerns a Bronx borough President (Esposito) who is forced, by the mortgage crisis into a confrontation with a local minister (Cephas Jones). The question they confront is one that faces us all. What is the relationship between spiritual experience and social action? STOREFRONT CHURCH features scenic design by Takeshi Kata, costume design by Alejo Vietti, lighting design by Matthew Richards and sound design by Bart Fasbender.

Clybourne Park

Broadway Opening Night Performance of 'Clybourne Park' at the Walter Kerr Theatre in New York City on 4/19/2012

Kathryn is such a busy bee ;o)

That is event #4 in one week.

Pulitzer Prize-winning play CLYBOURNE PARK, by Bruce Norris, directed by Pam McKinnon, opened on Broadway at the Walter Kerr Theatre last night, April 19. Get a first look at performance shots below!

CLYBOURNE PARK is about race, real estate and the volatile values of each, told through two acts set 50 years apart. The first takes place in 1959 as nervous community leaders try to stop the sale of a home to a black family. The second is set in the same house in its present-day, predominantly African-American neighborhood.

Bruce Norris's acclaimed play under the direction of Pam MacKinnon, received its world premiere at Playwrights Horizons in 2010 and just completed a critically acclaimed pre-Broadway engagement at Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. The original cast has moved to the Walter Kerr Theatre. The design team features Daniel Ostling (sets), Ilona Somogyi(costumes), Allen Lee Hughes (lights), and John Gromada (sound).
