'Worst Friends' Indie Comedy Finds North American Distributor
12:01 PM PST 07/03/2014 by Austin Siegemund-Broka
Level 33
"Worst Friends"
Level 33 will release the film from Ralph Arend of "CollegeHumor Originals."
Level 33 Entertainment has acquired the comedy Worst Friends for distribution in North America.
The film centers on prankster Jake (Richard Tanne), who is hit by a car and only has his childhood friend Sam (Noah Barrow) to take care of him. His recovery is aided by physical therapist Lily (Cody Horn) and Sam until Sam's high school crush Zoe (Kristen Connolly) moves back to town.
It will be released Sept. 16 on VOD and DVD with select theatrical screenings.
The comedy was directed and written by CollegeHumor Originals director Ralph Arend from a story by Arend, Barrow and Tanne. The three of them produced — Tanne through his October County Films banner — as did Erika Hampson.
“This film was a labor of love to all involved, and we’re thrilled to partner with a dynamic company like Level 33 in helping it reach the widest audience possible,” Tanne said in a statement.
Debbie Von Arx negotiated the deal on behalf of the producers

Indie Comedy ‘Worst Friends’ Lands At Level 33
EXCLUSIVE: Indie comedy Worst Friends has been acquired by Level 33 Entertainment, which is planning a multiplatform September 16 release. Richard Tanne, Noah Barrow, House of Cards‘ Kristen Connolly, Magic Mike‘s Cody Horn, Geoffrey Arend, and Larry Fessenden star in the pic from writer-director Ralph Arend, who conceived the story with Tanne and Barrow. Tanne stars as self-involved prankster Jake, who’s left in a wheelchair after a car accident with only his childhood friend Sam (Barrow) and his no-nonsense physical therapist (Horn) to care for him. When Sam’s high school crush Zoe (Connolly) moves back to town, old rivalries resurface. Tanne produced for his October County Films banner with Arent, Barrow, and Erika Hampson. Debbie Von Arx struck the deal on behalf of the filmmakers. Tanne is repped by WME and Dobré Films.

Worst Friends Trailer
See, what Richard Tanne tweeted me last Friday.
When Jake (Richard Tanne) gets into a debilitating car accident, the only person around to take care of him is his childhood friend Sam (Noah Barrow).
With the aid of a no-nonsense physical therapist (Cody Horn), Sam helps Jake recover, but when Sam's high school crush (Kristen Connolly) moves back to town, old habits and bitter rivalries resurface, threatening to tear their friendship apart.
Also starring Geoffrey Arend, Larry Fessenden, Deanna Russo, and Kathryn Erbe.

1/2 Worst Friends Update
Atxmark64 asked me if there are any Worst Friends updates.
I didn't heard anything from Richard Tanne in months...no twitter, no other comments. But I tried my luck and just tweeted: 'Hey Richard what's up? Any news about 'Worst Friends' with Kathryn Erbe? We would love to see this movie.'
I got an answer DM within minutes.
Let's cross our fingers that we'll hear something very soon.

Fabulous Film Festival Fall
If you follow the Kathryn 2010 to 2011 or Current Movie Project section here at my blog you already know that Mother’s House will be shown in several film festivals in the next months.
Try to catch one of the events (exact dates will be published the next days) and watch Mother’s House! The movie is worth to start being a film festival visitor.
September 21-25 - the 12th annual Woodstock Film Festival [New York]
October 06-09 - Louisville's International Festival of Film (LIFF) [Kentucky]
October 20-23 - Mother's House at Ojai Film Festival [California]
When you’re not close enough to one of these three places, I know there will be even more film festivals to catch the movie. Just check the MH facebook wall or the homepage and you’re up to date.
August 19th there also popped up the news that the wonderful film of Ingrid Price and Davis Hall won the 2011 Silver Colorado Film Award.
2011 Colorado Film Festival Announces Award Winners: Colorado Film Award - Silver is awarded to Mother's House (USA) directed by Davis Hall. While emptying his late mother's rural home, Thomas and his wife, Catherine, discover increasingly disturbing secrets until the conflict between memory and truth threatens to destroy them both.
Congratulation even when I couldn’t find any information about this organization. I think even the MH team didn’t know for sure. See their kickstarter entry:
Dear Kickstarters,
We're not sure what the "Silver Colorado Film Award" is, but we're mighty proud that Mother's House won it!
Go, Team, go!
Chris Washington posted the second part of the One Year Later clip. I think you can catch a glimpse of Kathryn when filming the car scene. But I’m not sure. Enjoy Tim dancing on the wire.
There are no more news about Kathryn’s other movies beside one tweet of Richard Tanne after a question of Nantz.

Worst Friends++ Update
Because we hadn't heard something about Worst Friends in the last couple of weeks and there are also no new articles about Richard Tanne's project, I wrote him an email to ask about the state of the Worst Friends affairs. Here is his answer:
Hi Antje,
Thank you very much for checking in and for your continued interest in our film. The film is coming along great! Post-production is going smoothly but taking a tad longer than we anticipated. We are holding off on entering film festivals and trying to secure distribution until we are convinced we have the best possible version of the movie. We're very close, but I'm hesitant to give you an ETA because these things are hard to predict.
Thanks again for checking in and I promise to update you as soon as there is anything concrete!
Sincerely,
Richard
In this whole process I also tried to contact the producers of Sunny Side Up. They still ignore my emails. I only hear from Chris of TheReel who had contact to Erica Hampson: Sunny Side Up is just finishing up its post production, and she [Erica Hampson] is not sure what will happen with it yet.
So maybe we'll get an exciting film festival autumn 2011 with a lot of Kathryn movies or maybe a very busy 2012.
P.S. Today the 3 Backyards facebook page claimed their attendance at the Sedona International Film Festival.
When you're in Arizona and have time at May, 24th get your ticket for one of the two screenings. Read more here.

The final spurt in the two kickstarter campaigns of Mother’s House and Worst Friends were herald.
There are only a few days left and the fundings are over. Both projects need a little bit more money to reach their goal.
Maybe you can help Richard Tanne & Erica Hampson as well as Ingrid Price & Davis Hall with their projects to realize Kathryn’s new movies, we all want to watch in 2011.

Worst Friends Finishing Funds
Worst Friends finally published their trailer but they need a little more money to finish their project.
About this project
We are looking to raise money so we can finish our film and submit it to festivals. We hope to hire an editor, do a color correction and sound mix. We have completed the offline, using favors and an in-home system. Now that we are ready to move to the last phase of post, we would love to be able to pay people for their time and efforts. This movie stars Kathryn Erbe, Larry Fessenden, Richard Tanne, Noah Barrow, Kristen Connolly, Josh Ruben and Sarah Wynter, among others.
This project will only be funded if at least $6,500 is pledged by Saturday Jan 1, 1:59am CET. Go to Kickstarter and help.

The Worst Friends On Set pictures are too amazing. Kathryn looked unbelievable beautiful and I can't wait to hear more about the project. I also snagged a few new textures over the week. All my icon challenges are done, so I played a little for myself with Photoshop.

Worst Friends
First Kathryn’s consent to come back to Criminal Intent for he last season with eight episodes (we would need 15 shows to hit the magical 200) and now the announcement of Worst Friends – a feature film project by Richard Tanne…
…what a great time.
Tagline: Even in the best of times...they were the worst of friends.
Storyline: Jack and Sam are childhood friends who never got along. Loud, charismatic, and more than occasionally obnoxious, Jack always overshadowed the more reserved and intellectual Sam. After high school they drifted apart and eventually became estranged.
Now in their twenties, Jack is forced to move back to their hometown in New Jersey while recovering from a debilitating car accident, and the only person willing to take care of him is Sam.
As they try to live in the same space, they find that old habits die hard, especially when Sam's old crush Zoe moves back into the neighborhood. Can they find harmony from the discord?
Kathryn will play Sam’s mom in this comedy and here you can see three on set pictures. With thanks to Nantz for posting the pictures and allowing me to re-post them and special thanks to Heather for her pre-sharing with me.

They filmed the movie between 14th and 23rd August. What a busy month for Kathryn. She filmed Mother’s House at the beginning of August.
They are now in post production and editing, if I read the updates on Richard Tanne’s homepage and on kickstarter right.
I really liked the idea to collect money from fans to realize the project. Everyone who donated will be listed in the end credits of the movie. What a shame I didn’t know earlier. I had loved to support one of Kathryn’s films.
At least a short video of Richard Tanne were he explained his project and how he planned to spend the donated money.
