First Screening of Blood from a Stoner

Jeanne Dorsey sent more information about the first Blood from a Stoner screening.

Dear Family and Friends,

Please join me for the debut screening of my film, Blood from a Stoner, on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 5:30 pm at the Anthology Film Archives (32 2^nd Ave at E. 2^nd St in Manhattan).

The wine reception begins at 5:30 pm, screening follows promptly at 6:00 with a Q & A afterward (the film is 28 minutes).  Actors Larry Bryggman, Kathryn Erbe, and Lou Liberatore along with cinematographer Tim Naylor and many crew members will be in attendance.  Seating is limited so please R.S.V.P. and let me know how many will be in your party.

Blood from a Stoner - first screening

Dear Family and Friends,

Just a note to say that my film Blood from a Stoner is completed and will be screened on January 12 at 6 pm at the Anthology Film Archives on East 2nd Street in Manhattan. There will be a brief wine reception beforehand and actors Larry Bryggman, Kathryn Erbe and Lou Liberatore and the crew will be on hand for a post-screening Q&A. It would be lovely to see you there. More details will follow closer to the date. In the mean time, happy holidays to all.

Blood from a Stoner Funding

Merry Christmas to all of my Lovely Kathryn Blog readers.

I hope you had a wonderful relaxing time with your family and friends.

What did you get for Christmas? Much love I hope, but maybe you have a few dollars left to make yourself another gift. Help Jeanne Dorsey the producer of Blood from a Stoner to finance her short movie. Kathryn Erbe has a main part and I so want to see this little gem get ready to show it the world.

Blood from a Stoner

The newest short movie of Kathryn was filmed a few weeks ago.

Set in Greenwich Village, the short film Blood from a Stoner is about a challenging meeting between Sally, a struggling artist, and her aging, pot smoking father, Bernard. These roles are beautifully portrayed by Kathryn Erbe and Larry Bryggman; Lou Liberatore rounds out the cast as Jiri, the waiter who eventually contributes a touch of stability to their shaky connection. And that’s the essence of Blood from a Stoner: a father and daughter trying to connect. It’s about overcoming disappointment, letting go of familial expectations and accepting what is. 

Now the producer Jeanne Dorsey is collecting money to finish the project.

Blood from a Stoner starring Kathryn Erbe, Larry Bryggman and Lou Liberatore, written, directed and produced by Jeanne Dorsey, is in the can!  We shot it several weeks ago over four days.  We have beautiful footage and now we are raising funds for post production.  Please click on the video above and have a look at a rough cut of the opening sequence.

I went on a little google search if there are any information about this new movie and found a short article.

BLOOD FROM A STONER

Set in Greenwich Village, the short film BLOOD FROM A STONER is the story of a fraught lunch between a grown woman and her aging, pot-smoking, difficult father and the waiter who brings a welcome dose of civility to the proceedings. Its sensibility is both comic and sad as it involves the main characters’ coming to terms with the wreckage of the past, letting go of familial expectations and accepting what is.

BLOOD FROM A STONER was produced Off Broadway in the prestigious Ensemble Studio Theatre's Marathon of one-act plays. Here's what people have said:

So Blood from a Stoner will be a theater play adaption made by the same writer/director. I also read on a few pages that the maker try to raise money for the short film project since 2011. I'm glad they will start to shoot soon. I cross my fingers for more information and joining in all the known social networks.

P.S. I'll be in vacations for the next two weeks and maybe can't update you with all the happening around Kathryn but I'll try my best.
