Here a longer slide show made of photos of my two weeks Italy trip. It was great but so so hot. The ice cream was more than delicious, the landscape so beautiful, the lake clear and I feel the need to refresh my sailing skills.

Write a Post Help a Dog Campaign 2011
BlogPaws the Conference for Pet Bloggers, Pet Brands, and Pet Health Care Professionals is only a day away now and in honor of the occasion Pedigree has decided to launch a Write a Post, Help a Dog Campaign. For those of you who missed the event last year in September 391 bloggers wrote about the program and with each post, Pedigree donated 20 pounds of its Healthy Longevity dog food to shelter animals. In all, 7,820 pounds of food was donated to two shelters known across the country for their dedication to the care and re-homing of senior dogs: Muttville Senior Dog Rescue in San Francisco and Castaway Critters in Harrisburg, Pa.
How you can help in 2011
Simply spread the word about Write a Post, Help a Dog 2011 and once again Pedigree will donate 20 pounds of food for each blog post. If you don’t have a blog feel free to tweet about the campaign or share on Facebook so your friends who do blog can participate. All bloggers are welcome even if you do not generally talk about pets on your blog. Its all about using Social Media for Social Good.
Here’s how it works:
- The Write a Post, Help a Dog program is aimed at raising awareness of the more then 4 million dogs that wind up in shelters and breed rescues each year. As well as to help get them all food (our goal is 10,000 lbs of food in the next two weeks) for the more than four million dogs that wind up in shelters and breed rescues each year.
- For each blog post mentioning the Pedigree Foundation from now until midnight ET on September 3, Pedigree will donate 20 pounds of its new dry Pedigree recipe food for dogs — its best recipe ever — to a shelter, because every dog deserves leading nutrition.
- Feel free to make your post more visually appealing by using either or both of the two images seen in this post.
- The Pedigree Foundation — a 501 (C)(3) nonprofit organization is committed to helping dogs by providing grants to shelters and rescues and encouraging dog adoption. This year the Foundation has already raised more than $376,570 against its goal of $1.5 million to carry out its work to fund grants that not only help shelters operate, but to further shelter innovations.
This is a Blog Hop! 90 entries so far... you can be next!

Breslau or Wrocław or my Vincent weekend without Vincent
When thinking about Wrocław before three weeks I tended to call it Breslau. You had to know that Wrocław was Breslau before 1945 and a German city. With calling the fourth largest city in Poland by it’s old German name I respect the current German borders anyway and don’t want to change it in any way.
But I read a few books about Breslau playing after WWI and until 1945 over the last couple of years. Marek Krajewski portrayed with his Detective Eberhard Mock a very interesting character. I really was curious to visit the city one day and I finally got the chance with entering the American Film Festival.
Vincent D’Onofrio planned to show his Don’t go in the Woods two times. I really was curious about the movie because all the reviews of other fans I read had been great. And there was that chance finally to meet Vincent. He never had come closer Berlin. I really must made use of that opportunity. Therefore I asked my colleague Pawel to translate that first article from October 1st again for me. Who is trusting google translation? I wanted to be sure.
Yes, the article really said that Vincent would be there.
For my birthday I got two tickets from my lovely CI Musers.
Thanks so much girls. I didn’t saw that coming, ordered two tickets by myself. So now I had to tickets to much, but there was a happy ending.
My mom and be booked a nice hotel (55 € for two night…unbelievable) and so we drove via Poland Friday afternoon. I was well prepared. I got a few good advises how to speak to Vincent and also made a few own plans. I had a little surprise duty I really wanted to fulfill. Just my nervousness and shyness could restrain me.
We arrived Wrocław in time (had just a 30 minutes traffic jam a few miles away of the city) and moved into the hotel room. I’m so glad that we had decided for a vacation apartment for our 10 days in New York City. Don’t get me wrong the room was really sweet and had many things inside, but it was small - perfect for a weekend trip.
The schedule of DGITW should be 22:15. We arrived very early at the cinema but this way I could switch the both tickets I had too much to the Saturday Screening. That was very kind from the AFF people.
We took two seats in the middle of the theatre (I’m more the last row placer, but I wanted to be close Vincent) and my nervousness increased to a maximum.
But to nervous too soon. Vincent didn’t join the audience and also after the screening he wasn’t there to answer questions or something like that. But we had two other tickets and would get another chance, if Vincent just had been more confirmed with the Saturday schedule.
Although it was after midnight there were many people on the streets. We had to walk a little until we finally wink for a cap to pass the rest of the way to our hotel quicker.
The Saturday we used for sightseeing and geocaching. All in all we found seven caches. We had a very delicious breakfast in the area around the university. If you order hot chocolate you’ll get fluid chocolate pudding.
Wrocław is a beautiful city with an amazing historic center. I read in Krajewski’s books, that the war also touched Breslau, but it wasn’t visible. Outside the historic ring are wonderful big old buildings like in Berlin and like I love them in combination with socialism buildings made with precast concrete slabs like I hate them.

But the inner circle had really sweet building with much sculptures between. We entered one church tower for a better overview, ate ice-cream, did a little window shopping and cached. I was so exhausted, but we had that second appointment at the cinema. At Saturday the schedule was 19:15. Second try (also again well prepared for my Vincent meeting plan)! We had a full moon. That was a good sign. I saw my last under the Brooklyn Bridge…sigh.

As my mom and I entered the theater there were two seats at the door reserved with two sheets of papers. That was a very good sight. But the time ran and no Vincent. This time there spoke an AFF member before the screening…told three times Vincent’s name, but more I didn’t get, he spoke in Polish. We saw the movie again and the lights switched on without him…
…I really like the movie. Okay, it was very creepy and bloody. The actors speak fast and mumble. It was much harder to follow that movie than Staten Island last year.
But the music was so beautiful. I don’t want to write much about it, because you all will love the ending and I don’t want to disturb it. But I would love to discuss the movie with people who already watched it.
And Eric in this pimp suit. I screamed as I saw him. I just have a few questions and comments. C’mon, I think all young French people are able to speak English. At least if you do an exchange year. I really liked the bassist. Robbie was really yummy and to see him rock…wohoo. Was he really blind? It was really cool to see Nick’s song growing over the whole movie. Why stared Anton strictly on his feet as he and the girls met the hunters? Will there be a soundtrack available? How fare away is Vincent with a regular distribution? The whole camping area was too clean. After 10 minutes your sleeping backs are dirty. And how in the world could be the sleeping back scene Vincent’s most favorite? That was so heavy. It is really a little crazy to write such a script. Who made him angry in this time?
I’m very interested if the Europe audience reacts in another way than an US audience. What a shame that Vincent had no time to find out. It was really a wonderful weekend and Wrocław a beautiful place to visit and Don’t go in the woods a movie you should watch. I’m a little sad that he didn’t come. I didn’t know if I had been brave enough to talk to Vincent but I didn’t get a chance to find out…not this time, but I’ll get my chance.
Sunday we had an exclusive breakfast at the Oder and then we headed off back to Berlin.

Meeting Susan and more CI
“Apparently when tourists take a bite out of the Big Apple, the apple isn't supposed to bite back.”
New York City 19th September to 30th September.
Day Three – Tuesday, 21st September
Tuesday was Susan Day. We had a date at Grand Central under the clock around 10:30 am. Luckily my mom and I got an express subway from Fulton St/Broadway-Nassau, so we arrived with 15 minutes plus our destination – using the time to get an own subway map (very, very helpful the next days) and getting nervous.
Linda (Susan’s wonderful sister, who accompanied her into the city) spotted us first and then the big hello began. I was so nervous but the click, I had felt with Hannah the year ago, happened again. Of course you write nearly every day a person but to meet…
I got Eric Bogosian’s CI hoody and we headed off with a cab via Central Park.
On our way we saw the Burberry Tower and Susan took a picture for Hannah ;o)
Inside the park we walked slowly to the boat house. Central Park is amazing. You’re finally in peace in this loud city. All the noises were swallowed from the nature, a nature very equally to Berlin.
After lunch we headed off to the first geocache close the Alice in Wonderland sculpture. Susan must have help to reach the hole in the tree. I was once again too small.
After two more caches plus Strawberry Fields (John Lennon Memorial) and the up and down around 'the lake' Susan couldn't go on. I exhausted her.
We said good bye on height of Dakota Building...I passed Danny’s yellow pin I had moved earlier from the hoody to my ‘Goren Knows Everything’ shirt, the hoody and I got Eric's autographs and the call sheets. We still separated but Susan turned back around and in the end I also got the pen Vincent signed our pictures at Joe’s Pub. Will I take it to Breslau for luck??? Tickets are ordered and I bucked a hotel for the week end…
Thanks so much Susan and Linda for these wonderful hours which passed so quickly. Next time we don’t cache, we just hang up.
My mom and me found two more caches plus the Earth Cache in Central Park and then meet again CSI: NY...lol. We just saw the crew stuff everything and there were no actors far or close. Would they be Wednesday in Rockaway at the beach? If yes, I would get a little paranoid.
Slowly we walked to East River over 60th Street to reach the Tram, but it was out of order since a few months :o( Damned, my mom really was looking for the floating to Roosevelt Island.
But on our way we entered the biggest candy shop I ever saw – three floors and found this:
A lot of celebrities signed their most favorite candies...Kathryn, did it, too.
Okay no flying with the Tram ropeway so we drove with a bus to Gramercy Park. I didn't found his home (no fit in all points), even after coming back a few days later with really long time looking at the MILK pictures. But I’m not that obsessed to spend half a day with this. But I’m obsessed enough to drive to Poland for the choice of seeing Don’t go in the Woods and maybe him.
After Gramercy we drove to Chelsea Piers...how beautiful. The sun went down and we had a wonderful view to Jersey.
A wonderful place to relax. I really like to rest there for a few moments and imagined Kathryn and Vincent over the water while waiting for the next take. The whole docking area...Pier 59 to 61 is a big sports and fun area but at Pier 59 there is also a studio.
Is this the entrance to heaven? Maybe??? And now there will be one more season. We got the news at this Tuesday. Unbelievable. It was really the perfect CI day.
We didn’t saw the Law & Order Way sign at our first visit, but as we came back to Chelsea Piers a few days later I took totally surprised a picture.
At the end we entered The High Line (old subway tracks...now a park; I think there they filmed ITWSH, Mike and Carolyn finding the death girl) and enjoyed the sunset and also the Hamburg-Feelings before driving back to Brooklyn.

New York City - Arriving and Gary Sinise
“Apparently when tourists take a bite out of the Big Apple, the apple isn't supposed to bite back.”
New York City 19th September to 30th September.
Day One – Sunday, 19th September
We drove from home with Oscar around 9:15. Our little orange car brought us to Dubliner Str.
We arrived Otto Lilienthal Airport, better know as Tegel 10 before ten. Check in didn’t last that long but my mom and me were a little frightened not to sit together. We had no seat reservations. The plane was very full. We got an offer to flight the next day (with offers of a Hotel in Berlin, free delivery…)…
…unbelievable. We wanted to go to NYC as soon as possible.
But we had much luck and sat together…row 34, seat D and E.
How to pass nine hours in a little loud tube? It was okay, better than I thought. Two of the four shown movies were very, very good, the other two, awful. The food was good, too but as we arrived JFK airport in time 14:28 US East Coast Time, we had to stay 30 more minutes on the airfield to wait for an empty lot for the plane. Then we stood 20 minutes in a hot and sticky tunnel with no go on and finally in the line of the US emigration…another 30 minutes. Jippy, I had to pass my both hand prints, both index finger prints and they took a picture of my face. But at least the guy how did it was very kind and in a good mood.
After so many minutes to enter finally the US, our luggage waited lonely on the baggage claim.
Because we were getting used of waiting we had another 20 minutes in the line for a cab…a real yellow cap…wowser. But we had a nice chat in the line with other Berlin travelers of our plane, who visit their daughter, who’s doing a three month traineeship in New York.
John our host was waiting for us in Brooklyn in front of the house, his two sweet little guys in the vacation home. He showed us the simple but beautiful rooms and then went with us on a little neighborhood walk.
Now it was after seven and we were awake for 18 hours and really tiered, but we went on another little walk to get a few groceries and check the bus station. We really had made planes to walk over the Brooklyn Bridge at day one but with all the waiting inside the airport we decide to switch this.
My mom and me fell totally groggy into bed at nine…or better three in the morning our time. You should see the bed of my mom…I never saw a larger bed…it was wider than long.
Day Two – Monday, 20th September
We slept well but I woke around four. I napped until six but then I had to get up.
After a little breakfast we took bus 38 to Brooklyn Bridge and then started to walk over…we finally saw the skyscrapers. My first thought was, okay nice view, but not this spectacular. You had to get closer, to get fascinated and we did with every further step.
End of Brooklyn Bridge we headed a little right and transit the City Hall toward One Police Plaza. I really stood before the entrance, looked at the round black sign…unbelievable. What a feeling. But the whole building and the entrance area is a little smaller than thought. Nevertheless, it was an amazing feeling. Unfortunately there was a fence around so you couldn’t take a look at hall. And because of the sentinel I made my picture from far away. Now after the ten days, I would do it right through the fence.
We went away and stood before the Court Building…looked in real also a little smaller. We got a muffin and a nut marzipan spiral…jamjamjam and sat in the sun in front of the court…the hectic city around us. It’s really noise everywhere. I hadn’t expected this.
With new power we walked along the Broadway to Battery Park (why I always say Baddery Park ;o)) and then along the water side to the Staten Island Ferry Terminal in Lower Manhattan.
Pier after Pier we reached number 19 and the Peking. What a beautiful ship, built from Blohm + Voss in Hamburg and then we saw a film team – making a joke that we’re not at home. I saw a guy wearing a Criminal Intent hoody…my heart beat stopped for a second and I thought, no it can’t be. There the great news about S10 hadn’t arrived yet.
And then Gary Sinise crossed our ways.
He walked from left to right in a black long coat (too hot for the temperatures). I was speechless and my mom and I just could stare behind and how he entered the Peking. We waited five more minutes and hoped for another cast member of CSI: NY but hadn’t more luck. I took a few pictures of the guy in the CI sweater, just for my own pleasure.
We continued our tourist tour and walked to Ground Zero along the Wall Street. We arrived the huge building lot around noon. All the workers in their yellow and orange vests with ‘Never Forget’ signs made their lunch in the streets around.
When they really want to finish the new towers at 10th anniversary they have to work night and day and will need even a little bit more time.
We had another break at the Hudson in the shadow of the World Financial Center and watched the sailers of Manhattan Sailing School…so cool. I used them once in a Christmas fanfiction.
We drove with the subway to 42nd Street and walked it from west to east. Checked Grand Central to know where to meet Susan the next day and then in a bus again southwards. We though it would go a little more south, but so we nearly walked along the whole Bowery. Then again west inside Little Italy and Chinatown for something warm to eat.
At least we stood again behind One PP (see, if Major Case is really in 11th floor it would be nearly on top) and tried to find the next subway station to drive home…
…I think we walked a few miles…and a few more ;o)

My night in 'The Vanishing City'
Rosier/News

Jen Senko and Fiore Derosa, directors of the new documentary called Vanishing City, pose outside of Katz's Deli on Houston Street.
Ten days are over…what ten days. I don’t know where to start telling you from my New York City trip? But let’s start with the Harlem International Film Festival and the screening of ‘The Vanishing City’ – the New York City documentary Kathryn narrated.
There had been that immense popping up of film screenings in late August and early September. So much little festivals had/will show Kathryn’s projects. I added every new screening in my sidebar (today the screening of 3 Backyards @ Hamptons Film Festival
[Sun, Oct 10, 3:15PM UA East Hampton Theater 5 $20
Mon, Oct 11, 7:00PM UA East Hampton Theater 3 $27]…thanks to Nantz for the finding.)
I lost a little the overview. So I realized just a few days before the start of my New York vacations that two screenings (Harlem + Williamsburg) would be while my 10 days in the city. Because at the WILLiFEST you just could get a day pass, I decided to organize tickets for Harlem. Unfortunately the tickets were available Monday 20th September. But I hit the buy button, knowing that I would meet Susan at Tuesday and she could bring me the print out. [My meeting with Susan…I call it the CI day and will tell you later what happened…there was also a Gary Sinise day…snicker. The vacations were so amazing.]
The whole Thursday my mom and I spent in Prospect Park for geocaching but in the night, we dressed a little nicer and headed off with the subway to Harlem. Driving with the New York subway is another big chapter. Dear, you don`t need a sauna subscription, just stay a few minutes in Fulton/ Nassau-Broadway and then for the ice bath/cooling in one of the MTA trains.
I hoped a tiny bit that Kathryn would join the festival [and I could ask her about the CI news]. Unfortunately she didn`t but Fiore Derosa was there. Now I kick my ass, why not asking about the publish date of the Daily News article…see below. I was Friday in the city and had loved to read it in the newspaper and get my own copy.
The Maysles Institute in 343 Lennox Avenue was a very small independent cinema…just 50 places. There were so many people who wanted to watch the New York City section [beside the screening of The Vanishing City there were three more amazing movies] that they had to open another room and sent the movies via beamer to the other half.
There were a few problems with the technique at the beginning so they had to start the screening five times. I loved the movie about the Picasso from Harlem who drew wonderful pictures at the rolling gates. The movie about the blind man was great too. Both performers were in the screening. Movie number three was a five minute animation…nice, but the other two movies were better and then Kathryn’s movie started. I didn’t get everything but you could feel the annoying about the Bloomberg administration and there tax policy in the theater.
Yes cities changed, Berlin did so much in the last 20 years and I’m angry. I can feel so well that the New York people are worried, too about the changing of their neighborhoods. People who lived 20 or more years in their apartments have to go because the landlord wanted something fancier and then the financial crash destroyed everything and left building lots and lost town houses.
It was amazing to hear Kathryn`s nice voice. First I thought, what just one line and then not more, but in the second half of the movie she is hearable more often. Interesting was that Kathryn was announced in the opening credits, but not in the end titles. But there I could spot Vincent D’Onofrio’s name under special thanks to…
Here you can find the Daily news Article.
…The directors have experienced several sides of New York since each moved here separately from New Jersey in the late 1970s and early '80s. DeRosa has supported himself as a construction worker while pursuing acting and directing in off-Broadway theater; Senko has worked as a presentation artist with financial companies. "The Vanishing City," exec-produced by Oscar-winner Ericka Hampson and narrated by actress Kathryn Erbe ("Law & Order; Criminal Intent"), reflects a love of the entire city and their mutual concern about local government's unspoken policy of what the film terms "luxurification."…
Congratulation to Jen Senko and Fiore Derosa. The Vanishing City won Best feature Documentary at the Williamsburg International Film Festival and Best Short Documentary at the Harlem International Film and was Honorable Mention in The Los Angeles International Film Festival.
It’s a very interesting and informative movie you should try to watch.

Cross-Check: successful
Second part ‘real meeting of Hannah and me’: successful
It felt unreal that Hannah would visit me in Berlin until I saw her coming out of the sliding door of Tegel Airport – with 30 minutes late arrival. I knew she would come for sure (no travel cancelation insurance) over a month and we wrote little countdowns in our email headers, anyway unreal.
But my brain switched and than we acted like last summer as I had been in Salzburg. We chat and talked and chat and talked on the whole way at home and the whole time until she left today through the security area.
Because the touch down wasn’t that nice and the weather really warm I decided to show Hannah my closer surrounding and neighborhood. We walked to the big water tower – Prenzlauer Berg’s landmark, the big synagogue of Rieke Straße, through Kollwitzstraße and Oderberger Str. Then I showed her the last pieces of the Berlin wall (yes, we climbed on that high tower for a better view) and at least we relaxed a little in the new Nordbahnhof Park. We both jumped on the trampoline. Don’t do that without shoes. It hurt.
The next day was full of Berlin main sight seeing. (Alexanderplatz, Berlin Dom (oh yes, we also entered its cupola), Government quarter, Brandenburger Gate, Holocaust memorial, Potzdamer Platz (yumyum with delicious ice cream and waiters with tie clips…snicker), Oranienburger Straße and Hackischer Markt.)
The big new free field of Tempelhof Airport we entered the next day. Dear, those were very big dimensions.
On Sunday we walked through the Gardens of the world in Marzan. I really like that area and Hannah took lots of flower pictures.
The last day we used for a visit of the big park around Castle Charlottenburg and on our way back we took the 200 double-decker bus and made a second and more comfortable sight seeing tour.
So maybe now you ask yourself what we did in the nights after so much walking (I had pressure Hannah to stay a few weeks longer. I lost three pounds since last Sunday. This way I would reach the weight I had planned for NYC a little easier.) We watched Criminal Intent…but just here a scene and there a scene, but we discovered things we never saw before. We looked at so many Vincent pictures. We checked out Gramercy Park on google maps. Hannah helped me with computer problems we solved in the end…jippy. She checked a little drabble for me (see below). I was inspired of a chat we had over the day. We fought ;o) Thank you so much, the chapter looks wonderful now. We found a new goof in Graansha and we found that hilarious article as we wanted to find the office of the Major Case Commander (is it really 11 floor?)
Thief enters NYPD's One Police Plaza headquarters, makes off with computers and phones
New York City police say a man is under arrest for entering their highly secured headquarters and stealing laptops and cell phones.
Police say the 30-year-old man entered One Police Plaza shortly before noon Tuesday. They say he stole two laptops and seven phones from one location.
He was later spotted outside the building and arrested.
Jermaine Sweet of Brooklyn was charged with burglary. The name of his attorney was not immediately on record.
There are so many new pictures of Kathryn at the Mother's House filming. I'll made an update tomorrow or maybe tonight.
Only when the morning coffee cup popped up into Bobby’s field of vision, he lifted his eyes from his paperwork for a second and welcomed his partner with a murmur. “M…morning.”
“Good morning, Bobby,” Alex replied in a good spirits, but instantly noted that something was wrong.
“What?”
“I…I saw you with…with?”
Alex raised her eyebrows in a frown.
“In your car.”
“Ah, Steve…I told you about him.” Alex smiled.
“I know, but…” Bobby’s eyes wandered from Alex’s face down her petite body and back to her eyes. “…I didn’t need to see it.” He shook his head. “Eames, my asexual partner.”
“Right, it’s like imagining your siblings having sex,” she snickers. “Urg.”

Cultivate a Friendship

Last year in spring I met Hannah over the www. She commented my current Criminal Intent story on fanfiction.net. We wrote back and forth and in under seven days we mailed daily very long emails. This contact didn't stop until now. Today I send her an email with nearly 3000 words. Okay, it looks like we're on a crazy trip the last couple of days.
Our special friendship grew more and more and now it's a year ago, that I visited Hannah in Salzburg. We had wonderful six days I won't miss.

In the last month I became excited more and more. Hannah will visit me in Berlin in seven days from now. So I created a little countdown, to get even more excited.
I can't wait for the moment, I'll pick her from Tegel airport. I really have to think about what I wanted to show her. I have to make a list ;o)
