An apple a day...

...keeps the doctor away.

On our Sunday geocaching trip my mom and I made a detour onto a lost garden. People had to leave their little city oases because the A100 should be extended to Treptow. Of course nothing had happened yet (because of the big protest) but the tenants must go. We found a small gap in the big fence with the barbwire and could collect apples, apples, apples and a few flowers.

Now we have 6,5 kg delicious regional apples to eat, making carrot/apple salad and pie. NOM NOM NOM.

50 years after...

Only a few minutes left and August 13 is over. Today exactly 50 years ago the GDR government closed the borders to Germany with building the wall. Many people died at the inner German border in the 28 years of separation. Here you can see my favorite picture of these days. A NVA soldier jumped over barbwire to reach freedom.

Eric Icons and WGA Strike

I saw this amazing I AM Theatre clip of Eric Bogosian a couple of days ago (hoping they will make such a clip with Kathryn as well) and decided to icon Eric for round 22 of [info]guys20in20.

Because the mod had vacation plans for August it's a 10 icon only round. Perfect! Here are my results:

Texture: [info]bttrfly_kiss, [info]lookslikerain
Psd: [info]navi_glow

THEMES
lyricsfaceless smile color splash far away

ARTIST'S CHOICE
#1 #2 #3 #4 #5

plus three:

As I was looking for Eric pictures I also found one of him at the WGA strike back in 2007/2008. At the photo stream of UnitedHollywood I found many more Law and Order actors supporting their writers at December 18th.

I knew that Vincent was there, too but also remembered that there where no Kathryn images. With a little more research I found an article saying that Kathryn and Vincent join the striking writers February 1st. I own pictures, but never connected them with the WGA.

While browsing through the web on more information about the writers strike I found this funny entry of Jryan on the USA message board:

What could happen if Dick Wolfe Hired NON UNION Writers to cross the Picket Lines.

World Mutt-i-grees® Rescue Day Press Conference

Phu, the North Shore facebook page published a link to a much better video of the World Mutt-i-grees® Rescue Day Press Conference.
I badly need to find the first video they showed of Kathryn. I think I never saw the moment where she walked her two dogs to a pet health center. But maybe that is a new clip to an older video. I also never saw Kathryn's winner clip she did last fall for Mutt-i-grees. When someone could help me with this...

World Mutt-i-grees Rescue Day

Look what wonderful tweet I read this morning:

AnimalLeague

Of course I followed the link and many more Aninal League tweeted over night. I got to the North Shore facebook page and found a few wonderful pictures of Kathryn, Lilah and Tallulah. Yesterday at August, 1st, Kathryn attended the press conference of The World Mutt-i-grees Rescue Day.

You can see many more pictures of the Mutt-i-grees event at getty images and the same with other water marks at WireImage.

There was a big article published at many web pages:

It's World Mutt-i-grees Rescue Day

From North Shore Animal League:

North Shore Animal League America launched its public service announcement featuring animal advocate and adopter Beth Stern, today for World Mutt-i-grees Rescue Day.

A live webcast of the Animal League press conference took place at noon EST, which included a special celebrity guest appearance by actress, adopter and Mutt-i-grees spokesperson Kathryn Erbe.

An estimated 8-10 million animals enter shelters each year -- most are healthy, affectionate and beautiful. Tragically, more than half of those animals are euthanized, as they are victims of overpopulated shelters. World Mutt-i-grees Rescue Day recognizes that shelters nationwide have many wonderful animals available; it also recognizes the importance of adopting, not shopping.

"Individuals who purchase puppies online or from pet stores need to be educated on the facts that most of these providers are supplied by the cruel puppy mill trade," said Beth Stern.

Broadcasters and social networkers are encouraged to air and/or post the PSA. In both the 30- and 60-second PSAs, Stern asks animal lovers to help save lives by adopting a pet from a shelter and to join the Mutt-i-grees Movement -- a movement that rallies millions of animal lovers to help end animal cruelty.

Mutt-i-grees represent shelter pets and their unique qualities, whether they are purebreds or mixed-breeds; puppies, kittens, dogs or cats; large or small; energetic or laid back. While their individuality makes each one of these Mutt-i-grees special, they all share a common need, and that is to find a permanent loving home.

Beth, who adopted cats Walter and Apple from the Animal League with husband Howard Stern, urges broadcasters, social networkers and animal lovers to participate in this life-saving effort by airing or posting the PSA on World Mutt-i-grees Rescue Day. "Spreading the word and raising awareness can help change the way cat and dog-loving Americans perceive shelter pets -- ultimately saving the precious lives of countless animals. I encourage all animal lovers looking to add to the family to visit a shelter today."

YOU CAN HELP SHARE THE MUTT-I-GREES MESSAGE IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS:

1. Download the PSA in high-resolution media, MPEG. Flash and/or MP3 files.

2. "Like" North Shore Animal League on Facebook and "share" its Mutt-i-grees message at www.facebook.com/theanimalleague.

3. Dedicate your Facebook profile image or "status" to the Mutt-i-grees message for a day, week, or any length of time -- using the following status update on your page:

"I changed my profile image to help promote the Animal League's "World Mutt-i-grees Rescue Day" and to spread awareness of rescuing and adopting shelter pets. Learn more at www.animalleague.org. Pass it on!"

4. "Follow" North Shore Animal League on Twitter and tweet its Mutt-i-grees message at http://twitter.com/animalleague.

5. Link to the Mutt-i-grees page at www.animalleague.org/muttigrees on your own website.

6. Promote the Mutt-i-grees message through email, blogs, and other social networking sites.

"Pet lovers are incredibly proud of their Mutt-i-grees, and now they can join together communicating, sharing ideas and celebrating their choices," said John Stevenson, President of NSALA. He added, "While NSALA practices a no-kill philosophy, many other shelters are forced to euthanize due to lack of space and resources, resulting in approximately 4 million shelter pets unnecessarily dying each year, which makes shelter adoption the responsible choice."

Adopters of shelter pets are also asked to join World Mutt-i-grees Rescue Day by signing up with the National Mutt-i-grees Registry. All registrants will receive an Official National Mutt-i-grees Registry Certificate.

The Mutt-i-grees Initiative was created in 2009 by The Pet Savers Foundation, the development arm of NSALA, to give a voice to the over 50 million mixed-breed dogs in the United States. Now recognizing all shelter pets, the Initiative has grown into the Mutt-i-grees Movement. This includes an educational component that has been rolled out in over 900 schools nationwide called the Mutt-i-grees Curriculum- created in partnership with Yale University's School of the 21 Century, and graciously funded by the Millan Foundation, as well as Mutt-i-grees ACTIVities.

Hahaha, see how Tallulah is looking at this cat.

Here is the live webcast of the press conference. The image data are very bad [at least at my work place] but at least you can listen to Kathryn (from 8 minutes on). I had loved to see her whole clothes. The top seams to look great but she has Tallulah in front of on every single picture.

Maybe it's time to rescue an animal? Think also of animal shelters, when looking for a dog, cat, bunny, bird or hamster.

Mother's House: One Year Later Part 1

Exactly one year ago, production began on the short film, "Mother's House." In part one of this special video, Davis Hall and Ingrid Price sit down and go over the timeline between then and now, as they wait to hear word on whether or not the film will be accepted into the fall film festivals.

I couldn't spot Kathryn in the video but Tim make funambulation with Edie in his arms...wow.

Made by Chris Washington.

About one year ago, at a small house in stone ridge, Mother’s House began it’s first day of production. For the most part, a majority of the crew had either little or no experience working on a film set (myself included). Fast forward to today and you see that a lot has happened. After nine days of shooting followed by countless months of post-production, the film has now been shown at multiple festivals and may possibly be shown at more during the fall season.

For this occasion, I asked Ingrid Price and Davis Hall to give their thoughts on the whole journey of Mother’s House. In part one of the video, both producers talk a little bit about what happened after shooting stopped as well as talk about their experience at the Breckenridge Film Festival.

I can't wait of the fall season and many more film festival dates.
