The only festival of its kind in the world, the 13th Annual First Person Arts Festival features powerful personal stories from leading national artists and everyday people.

PERFORMANCES

2014 FPA Festival performances include Long Day’s Journey presented by Outside the Wire featuring Zach Grenier (The Good Wife) and Kathryn Erbe (Law and Order: Criminal Intent); Obie Award winning playwright and Pulitzer Prize finalist, Dael Orlandersmith in a staged reading of her newest memoir-driven work; Comedian and best selling author, Ruby Wax in Sane New World; the return of Stripped Stories, named one of the 10 Best Storytelling Shows by Time Out Los Angeles; and a comedic evening of karaoke-style storytelling performances in Story League Sings. Plus, FPA Festival favorite, the 13th FPA Grand Slam hosted by Dave Hill.

The fifth season of First Person Arts RAW features new boundary-pushing works in memoir and documentary art by award winning audio producer and producer of the FPA Podcast Yowei Shaw (This American Life, Studio 360, NPR) in First Person Arts Podcast LIVE!; and interdisciplinary artist and performer Beth Nixon in her latest object theater performance, Lava Fossil.

FOOD PROGRAMS

Dinner with celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson featuring recipes from the New York Times best selling author’s latest cookbook.

WORKSHOPS/TOURS/PANELS

Workshops include an intimate writing workshop with Dael Orlandersmith; Storytelling workshops with Elna Baker (This American Life) and Andrew Linderman (The Moth); a panel of published female writers in Women’s Voices in Print; and the return of the popular Humanizing History tour.
