2011 North Shore Animal Mutt-i-grees Mania Launch
Here are a few pictures of the big finale to the “Get Your Licks on Route 66″ Pet Adoption Tour on September 25, 2011 in New York. Kathryn is looking fabulous in the short denim slirt and the sporty t-shirt. See now Maeve is taller than her mom. Unfortunately, I didn't spot Lilah or Tallulah, but there had been many dogs around. I hope that a lot of them found a new home. With picture sources at:

Mother's House going Europe
…and looking for an English to German translator for the subtitle. Just let me know and I’ll connect you with Ingrid Price. But before the short will enter LiFF (Lucerne International Film Festival) between October 19 – 23, you’ll have the chance to catch Kathryn’s movie at the second airing of Woodstock Film Festival tonight. Remember 10 pm during the Lost Found section at Kleinert James Art Center.
The Louisville International Festival of Film also published their schedule calendar. Mother’s House will be shown at Willow Room – Galt House October 8th, 5:30 pm. Look here for ticket information.
If you didn’t catch a tweet, the facebook entry or visited the MH homepage, again the hint to Ulster Magazine. Look at page 13 and following and read a long article about film making in Ulster Country. The writer mentioned Tim Guinee and showed two pictures around the Mother’s House making.
Thomas and Catherine arrive at his late mother's rural home. They are unprepared for what they find. Thomas can hardly remember the last time he was there, and Catherine never even met the old lady. There's a lifetime of accumulated clutter to sort through, and the couple wastes no time starting to empty the house. But more than just "mother's things" await them in the dusty rooms.
The outside world recedes, and what started as a simple task now seems impossible, even dangerous. Possessed by memories and eerie dreams, Catherine and Thomas begin to feel trapped. Then they become aware of a third presence... a sweet-faced young boy, lingering silently in the half-empty rooms.
Catherine is anxious to leave, but Thomas is frozen; unable to discard his old toys, drawn irresistibly to his childhood bedroom. The couple is pulled apart, dismantling themselves as they dismantle the house. There is a terrible secret in mother's house, and they cannot help but discover it.
P.S. Translate to German: "While emptying his late mother's rural home, Thomas and his wife, Catherine, discover increasingly disturbing secrets until the conflict between memory and truth threatens to destroy them both." I passed my version to Ingrid and read another at facebook. Be a part of Kathryn's movie and help the producers to spread their wonderful movie.

Woodstock Film Festival 2011 Launch Party in NYC
By Deborah Medenbach
Reporting Live from the 2011 WFF Launch Party at Libation in NYC! Kathryn Erbe ("Mother's House" and "Law and Order") is here with Academy Award Winner Melissa Leo ("The Sea is All I know" and "The Fighter") among other 2011 Festival Participants!
...The party continued with a conversation with first time filmmaker Davis Hall of Stone Ridge about his short narrative “Mother’s House,” starring Kathryn Erbe; a viewing of the engineering wonderfilm “A Bridge Delivered” by Stephen Mallon; receiving an overview of “Taking a Chance on God” produced by High Falls resident Ilene Cutler; and meeting short film “Bang” director Holle Singer. More about these in future posts.
The festival’s schedule for Sept. 21-25 and tickets are now available online at www.woodstockfilmfestival.com.
“Mother’s House” and Stone Ridge’s Davis Hall
Most Ulster county live theater fans know Davis Hall from his acting performances with Actors & Writers in Rosendale. His experiences cleaning out his mother’s house after her death a couple of years ago spurred his new venture into filmmaking, writing and directing “Mother’s House.”
“It was shot in nine days in Stone Ridge at a house near where I live,” Hall said. “The story is about a couple coming to clear out a dead parent’s house. It brings what’s real and what’s memory into question.”
Kathryn Erbe, known for her role as Det. Alexandra Eames on the TV show “Law & Order,” welcomed the lead role alongside Tim Guinee in this 30-minute film.
“It’s a moving thing to care about someone and go through their things,” Erbe said. Davis described finding his parent’s World War II love letters and wondering if it was crossing a boundary to read them. The act of sorting personal effects often gives deeper insight into who they were and facets of their personality that might have been kept hidden.
“Could you ever allow someone to freely go through all of your belongings while you were still alive and accountable?” I asked.
Both conceded some stories can only be told when you’re dead.
“Mother’s House” has its New York Premiere at the Woodstock Film Festival.
Hurricane Irene didn’t stop filmmakers from streaming down to the Lower East Side in NYC on Aug. 30 for the Woodstock Film Festival Launch Party. Squeezing in the front door, I was whisked up to the balcony for a quick chat with the director, writer, and two principal actors from “Coming Up Roses.”...

Write a Post Help a Dog Campaign 2011
BlogPaws the Conference for Pet Bloggers, Pet Brands, and Pet Health Care Professionals is only a day away now and in honor of the occasion Pedigree has decided to launch a Write a Post, Help a Dog Campaign. For those of you who missed the event last year in September 391 bloggers wrote about the program and with each post, Pedigree donated 20 pounds of its Healthy Longevity dog food to shelter animals. In all, 7,820 pounds of food was donated to two shelters known across the country for their dedication to the care and re-homing of senior dogs: Muttville Senior Dog Rescue in San Francisco and Castaway Critters in Harrisburg, Pa.
How you can help in 2011
Simply spread the word about Write a Post, Help a Dog 2011 and once again Pedigree will donate 20 pounds of food for each blog post. If you don’t have a blog feel free to tweet about the campaign or share on Facebook so your friends who do blog can participate. All bloggers are welcome even if you do not generally talk about pets on your blog. Its all about using Social Media for Social Good.
Here’s how it works:
- The Write a Post, Help a Dog program is aimed at raising awareness of the more then 4 million dogs that wind up in shelters and breed rescues each year. As well as to help get them all food (our goal is 10,000 lbs of food in the next two weeks) for the more than four million dogs that wind up in shelters and breed rescues each year.
- For each blog post mentioning the Pedigree Foundation from now until midnight ET on September 3, Pedigree will donate 20 pounds of its new dry Pedigree recipe food for dogs — its best recipe ever — to a shelter, because every dog deserves leading nutrition.
- Feel free to make your post more visually appealing by using either or both of the two images seen in this post.
- The Pedigree Foundation — a 501 (C)(3) nonprofit organization is committed to helping dogs by providing grants to shelters and rescues and encouraging dog adoption. This year the Foundation has already raised more than $376,570 against its goal of $1.5 million to carry out its work to fund grants that not only help shelters operate, but to further shelter innovations.
This is a Blog Hop! 90 entries so far... you can be next!
P.S. I'll be in my summer vacations for the next two weeks. I'll be back from Italy at 17th September. We'll read us...
